Remember a couple of weeks ago I cleaned out the basement freezer? Well, we had a number of bags of cut and peeled apples in there waiting for some terrific use. I really like the fried apples from Cracker Barrel and wanted to recreate them for a meal. My family gave them a thumb’s up. 🙂
2 cups diced, peeled apples ( I used frozen apples, but raw would work too)
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp-2 tbsp white sugar (depending on your personal taste)
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup water
- To a frying pan add nutmeg, butter, cinnamon, sugar and flour. Use medium/low heat.
- As butter melts, stir ingredients together until a paste forms.
- Add water and apples.
- Stir together.
- Cook on low until apples are tender and sauce is thickened.
