Cracker Barrel Style Fried Apples

Remember a couple of weeks ago I cleaned out the basement freezer? Well, we had a number of bags of cut and peeled apples in there waiting for some terrific use. I really like the fried apples from Cracker Barrel and wanted to recreate them for a meal. My family gave them a thumb’s up. 🙂

Ingredients:

2 cups diced, peeled apples ( I used frozen apples, but raw would work too)

1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tbsp-2 tbsp white sugar (depending on your personal taste)

1 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

1/4 cup water

To Do:

  1. To a frying pan add nutmeg, butter, cinnamon, sugar and flour. Use medium/low heat.
  2. As butter melts, stir ingredients together until a paste forms.
  3. Add water and apples.
  4. Stir together.
  5. Cook on low until apples are tender and sauce is thickened.
  6. Serve.
