Easy Peasy and with plenty of time for tonight’s dinner plan. You can buy fresh asparagus in the stores right now….maybe not fresh for your local area, but fresh for California and shipped almost fresh to the local stores. At any rate, we love asparagus around here, but I’m not willing to pay upwards of 4 dollars or more a bundle for it out of season.
When I saw it on sale for $1.97 this week I grabbed it! One bundle is enough for the four of us to have it at two meals, serving a few stalks per person.
(On a side note….it’s really easy to grow your own apsaragus. Bonus….it’s a perennial…it’ll come up every year. As good as fresh bought from the store it, homegrown and for-real fresh is even better.)
- Rinse the stalks, shake lightly to get excess water off. You can cut the bottom off or leave it on. Doesn’t matter. It’s very tough, so you probably won’t want to eat it.
- lay on a pan or plate.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Sprinkle with salt.
- Grill for about 10 minutes.
The flavor is amazing. Also…did you know that it’s proper to eat asparagus with your fingers? Unless it’s saucy, then use utensils. If not however….it’s nature’s finger food!
