Making Chapstick

Had I known how easy homemade chapstick was to make, we would have made it a very long time ago. Honestly, I don’t think I realized one could make their own chapstick. Anna, though is very curious about all natural things like lotions, soaps, chapsticks and had a list of things she wanted posted on the refrigerator for a long time. Well, Christmas came and so did the items on her list.

She got busy organizing the items and reading and re-reading recipes she found online. Checking and double checking ingredients.

Turns out making chapstick is fun! She did a great job making grapefruit and sweet orange flavors. They are remarkably soothing.

We are now the proud owners of a bunch of chapsticks waiting for giveaways or use.

Using Wellness Mama’s recipe Anna made 32 chapsticks.

We used these essential oils from Eden’s Garden and these chapstick tubes.

  1. Melt all of the ingredients in a mason jar placed in a pan of water.

2. When it’s all melted together use a dropper or funnel to fill the tubes.DSC_0165

3. I forgot to get a picture of the chapsticks settling….after pouring the melted ingredients into the tubes they need to sit for 24 hours before moving.

4. Ready for labeling!
