It’s beginning to look like Christmas, but I have pictures to post! of Thanksgiving! And Turkey! And Cranberry Sauce! So, I digress from Christmas a little bit and revert back to Thanksgiving for just a moment.
Thanksgiving #2 was spent with Jeremy’s family. Arriving on Wednesday afternoon and travelling home on Friday evening we made a short getaway out of our time there.
Cousin visits, good food, a tiny bit of Black Friday shopping and celebrating together made this holiday another worthy celebration.
Mr. Turkey decided to finish cooking long before we expected him to be done, but it was perfectly slathered with butter, salt and pepper and cooked to perfection. Quite possibly one of the best turkey’s I’ve ever eaten. Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows, green bean casserole, applesauce, cranberry sauce and cranberry relish rounded the plate. Also, olives, pickles, and breads were sampled, but they may or may not have been mostly gone by the time we ate dinner.
Pumpkin Pie and Pineapple Pie were dessert offerings.
Thanksgiving just isn’t complete without the day after leftovers. Our favorite way to eat them besides hot turkey sandwiches and cold turkey and cranberry sandwiches? Put some butter in a frying pan, let it get good and melted, add any variations of leftover veggies, stuffing, turkey and potatoes and cook until hot. Then add more butter. A bit of salt. Eat.
