Easy Peasey Edibles

IMG_8140I took this grainy little picture of a violet early this morning with my cell phone. A beautiful, little plant that is sown among the herbs in my herb garden. It almost seems insensitive to eat it, even though I planted it for exactly that purpose.  I am fascinated with the idea of edible flowers. Really, I started planning my garden in January and knew I wanted to include some edible flowers. They add crazy texture and a sense of “au natural” to whatever food project I’m working on and a pop of color to break up the green, green, green, slightly purple, back to green herbs. I feel a little bad eating them, like they know I’ve betrayed them, but not that much.
